At Viva Foundation
We made a conscious decision to empower underserved small business owners. Meaning, investing in people with dreams and hopes for what is possible in their neighborhoods and communities. Underserved small businesses have traditionally faced barriers in accessing credit, capital and other tools to grow their business. They are often located in cities and rural areas that often include people of color, women, immigrants, and other groups. Intended to diversify the economy, Viva Foundation creates a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, initially focused on startup and established businesses.
Why Supporting Underserved Small Business Matters
In disadvantaged communities, especially those that need public support for small businesses, philanthropic resources employing inclusive practices are needed. When we support small businesses in underserved communities, jobs for residents are created, neighborhoods are invigorated, community wealth building opportunities are made available to all, and we create more inclusive communities. Viva Foundation works to create an inclusive, healthy financial system that supports small business owners by connecting entrepreneurs to affordable capital, business education, and immigration assistance. Through partnerships and outreach strategies, we reach underserved entrepreneurs of color, low income, and women who need to build and grow their business.
